Hola everybody!

Let me introduce myself – I’m Santiago, a Latin handsome ‘macho’ 6-year-old medium sized (59 pounds). I arrived from Chile to Vancouver in July after my owner sadly past away, leaving my sister Rosita and me homeless. As my owner' son didn't find a nice home for us in Chile, he brought us to Canada. My lucky sister already was adopted for a wonderful family from Vancouver, and I hope to have her same fortune very soon. Fingers crossed!

In Chile, I used to spend lots of time with children, and I was well behaved around them. I loved to run around the garden and, as I was a guardian dog, I liked to take care of my owner’s home and family. I was always very respectful of everybody, even with the veterinarian -and the vaccinations- and the lady who gave me that unwelcome bathes -I don't like water!-.

During these months in Vancouver, with the help of a trainer and behaviorist, I have learned basic commands as ‘sit’, ‘down’, and ‘high five’! Everyone who meets me says I am a very nice dog. Though the trainers have put a lot of pressure on me during the training sessions, I have always been very respectful of them.

I am well behaved at home. If my foster parents ask me stay at the living room while they eat -no problem! – I stay where they ask me. And I allow anyone to take my food away, even treats and chewy bones right out of my mouth – I have great respect for my caretakers. I am really smart and I learn quickly. I love to get visitors at home, especially those who pet me. I don’t bark often, not even when the door bell rings. But I do when I see a cat so it would be probably not suit for me to share a home with a feline.

My favorite activities are going for walks, run around the garden, stretch on the grass, and get lot of cuddles and treats. But what I love even more is being brushed and chewing tasty bones. On the streets I walk quietly on leash, but I confess that I sometimes become anxious when I see other dogs coming close. So my foster and trainer are helping me to socialize with them.

Although it isn't often, sometimes I don’t like men wearing hoods or those who look ‘suspicious’ – they make me feel anxious too. However, if my foster parents ask me to stay quiet, I do it. Nowadays I am joining a dog-pack walking and making great progress. I need an owner who can provide me with both love and strong leadership to continuous improving my confidence.

My foster parents will miss me so much. But as they have 2 kitties, it is impossible to them keep me. I need a nice home soon. I am up-to-date with vaccinations, neutered, and in great health.

My adoption fee is $250 dollars. This amount will be donated to the organization Better Life Rescue Dog. They have helped me a lot to fit here.
